How do the core concepts fit into my world? Kitah Gimmel (Third Grade) “Do not separate yourself from the community.” (Hillel, Pirke Avot 2:4) What does it mean to be a part of a kehilah (community)? Kitah Dalet(Fourth Grade) “At Sinai, Moses received the Torah and handed it over to Joshua, who handed it over…” (Pirke Avot 1:1) Where did I come from and where am I going? Kitah Hey(Fifth Grade) “If I am not for myself, who will be for me? And, if I am for myself alone, what am I? And, if not now, when? (Pirke Avot 1:14) What do I believe? What are my core values? What does being Jewish mean to me? Kitah Vav(Sixth Grade) “It is not up to you to finish the work, but neither are you free to avoid it.” (Tarfon, Pirke Avot 2:16) What are my obligations? How do I take action? Kitah Zayin(Seventh Grade) “Treat no one lightly and think nothing is useless, for everyone has one’s moment and everything has its place.” (Pirke Avot 4:3) How do I relate to Judaism as I enter adulthood?? Teens “In a place where there are no human beings, try to be one.” (Hillel, Pirke Avot 2:5) How do I respond to difficult situations? Where do I go from here? Adults “Turn it, and turn it, for everything is in it. Reflect on it and grow old and gray with it.
