He will discuss how to get started, how the Internet has transformed the search for ancestors, why children should participate in the hunt, some of the remarkable treasures waiting to be found — and the special place genealogy holds in Jewish tradition. Ira’s books include Climbing Your Family Tree and Jewish New York.

Join writer Alyson Gerber to explore the interplay between your experience as a reader and the way you see yourself. Alyson, a published author and MFA candidate in Writing for Children at The New School, has just completed Gracie Garber Loves Goys, a novel for young adults. Pizza dinner will be served.

Children's Book Talk with Yona Zeldis McDonough

How does a book go from an idea to a draft to a finished product? This talk will outline the multi-step process by which a book becomes a book. Yona Zeldis McDonough is the author of nineteen children’s books, including Hammerin’ Hank, The Dollshop Downstairs and The Doll with the Yellow Star. Yona’s talk will be followed by pizza and a book signing. Parents are welcome to join us.
