East End Temple, Congregation El Emet was founded 60 years ago by a group of World War II veterans and their families. These families achieved their dream of building a close-nit Jewish community. They bequeathed to us a wonderful legacy: a home that deepens our faith, challenges our minds, and touches our hearts.
For many years, our Temple was located at Second Avenue and 23rd Street. Then we had a "temporary" home at First Avenue and 23rd Street, until we moved to our current award-winning facility.
Now, new generations of committed Jewish families are finding their spiritual home with us in our new facility at 245 East 17th Street. We purchased an 1883 building in a landmarked district and turned it into East End Temple!
The sense of community and family at East End Temple is very real. We invite you to worship with us or visit us at Stuyvesant Square Park.
